Environmental Day!
Environmental Day is celebrated this year on the 5th of June.
This is our moment. Unfortunately we cannot turn back time but we as a generation can make peace with nature. We celebrate this day to encourage awareness and environmental protection.

There is now much more of an emphasis on sustainability and helping the planet. Sustainability has become considered a lot more especially when it comes to home life.
What is Sustainable living?
Sustainable living describes a lifestyle that attempts to reduce an individual’s or society’s use of the Earth's natural resources, and one’s personal resources.
Sustainability is most often meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. It has three main pillars: economic, environmental, and social. These three pillars are informally referred to as people, planet and profits.
Economic: Considers factors related to the economy; profit, economic growth, cost, savings.
Environmental: Takes into consideration the natural resources. This plays a part in pollution reduction.
Social: This considers how people and activities influence living standards.
Ways to be Sustainable from Home:
- Use LED lighting or CFL bulbs instead of incandescent lighting as it’s proven to last longer, which reduces the need to keep purchasing light bulbs.
- Put up a no junk mail sign on your letterbox to limit the amount of paper waste.
- Grow your own herbs ,fruit and vegetables even if it’s just a few pots around the house, it all helps!
It’s important we teach the younger generations the ways of sustainability in order to preserve the future. Here is a fun idea for children that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home and will be a learning experience.
